 Special News!

Announcing the Gulf Coast Technology Council Scholarship Fund

Mobile is a special place. Never in our history is this more evident than with the recent announcements that several major new businesses will call our great community home.

As a local business leader, a board member of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Gulf Coast Technology Council (GCTC), I’m committed to helping these businesses and all the others that call Mobile home become successful. This is why I am proud to announce the formation of the Gulf Coast Technology Council Scholarship Fund.

The purpose of the GCTC Scholarship Fund is primarily designed to foster the education of students attending Mobile area colleges and universities who are majoring in fields related to technology and to keep that talent in Mobile for years to come.

We hope the program we developed encourages you to participate immediately and provide you with the recognition for your commitment to the community to make a difference. Please request a contribution form for details relating to the Scholarship Fund. If you choose to participate I will personally let you know how we do! If I can answer any questions you may have please feel free to contact me.

With Grateful Appreciation,

Bayne Bridges

Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce: Mission

Although our programs are always changing to meet the needs of the Mobile area, the foundation upon which the Chamber was built never changes. As a private business organization, the Chamber’s mission is simple and direct: “to serve as a progressive advocate for business needs to promote the Mobile area’s economic well-being.”  The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce was incorporated under the name Mobile Commerce and Business League in 1836.

The Mobile organization was the first in the state, chartered by the Alabama Legislature in 1854. The Chamber has changed its names on several occasions. It has been known as the Mobile Board of Trade, the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and Maritime Exchange and Shipping Association, and the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and Business League. In 1960, the organization was reincorporated under its present name, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce is one of the nation’s oldest continuously accredited Chambers, and received its 25-year accreditation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1992. In 2003, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce was awarded Accreditation with FIVE STARS, the highest designation awarded by the U.S. Chamber.

The private sector side of InfraGard is led by a non-profit corporation, the InfraGard National Members Alliance, which consists of local InfraGard Members Alliances (IMAs) throughout the country. An InfraGard Chapter refers to the local FBI, the local IMA, and the local InfraGard members working together. InfraGard is a registered service mark of the FBI.
